Wellington Tamil Vidyalayam, Hatton, passes 93 weeks of school lunches
Most students at the school come from estate families on very low incomes. Daily lunches keep them in class.
The ACT Foundation continues our services for the students of Wellington Tamil Vidyalayam, Hatton, Nuwara Eliya.
Over 44,188 hot lunches have been provided to these kids over the past 93 weeks under our School Nutrition Meals Program.
This school serves some of the most underprivileged families, with more than 90% of the students coming from hard-working families living in tea estates under the poverty line. This program has focused on secondary school children.
The meals are 100% plant-based, cooked on-site every day at the school kitchen from locally sourced ingredients, and served to the children during the lunch intervals.
ACT Foundation encourages generous sponsors to come forward and support this program in the upcoming months.
